Bergen Summer Research School 2016 - Water, Climate & Society

Letzte Aktualisierung: 19.01.2016 // The University of Bergen once again is inviting PhD-students and junior researchers a possibility for interdisciplinary experiences, offering a wide range of challenging courses. The Bergen Summer Research School 2016 concentrates on water related issues, under the theme Water, Climate & Society.

The summer school offers top lecturers, cutting-edge keynotes, student presentations, plenary sessions and guided excursions into the waterscape of Western Norway - with waterfalls, fjords and glaciers. The University hope to provide the ideal backdrop for stimulating cross-disciplinary discussions.

The Bergen Summer Research School (BSRS) is committed to produce and disseminate research-based education to address key global challenges. Every year, BSRS gathers 70 PhD-students and junior researchers from all over the world, seeking interdisciplinary approaches to global challenges.

The following, seven parallel courses are offered at this years summer research school. Students can take only one of the parallel courses.

  • Climate change and water
  • Modelling the complexities of water, climate and society
  • Poverty, climate change and water in the context of SDGs
  • River basins, power and law
  • The ocean, climate and society
  • Religion and water
  • Water and global health
         
  • Scientific leader for this years summer research school is Professor at the Department of Geography, UiB, Terje Tvedt.
